The Sun has been shining over these summer months and we have been taking full advantage of the beautiful weather!
Our babies have been very busy over the last two months, from planting sunflower seeds into their decorated plant pots and having balloon bashing sessions, to splashing in the cool, melted water pretending to be dinosaurs “ROOOOAR”. Our under 2’s have also been having fun digging for the wiggly worms amongst the playdough and mud, squishing it through their fingers. Who doesn’t love making lots of noise…WE DO!! Bashing and banging the pots and pans was especially fun, the little ones got to make as much noise as they wanted, and we got to listen to some lovely singing voices!
Testing our colour knowledge is always important, and what better way than to print red, yellow and blue rainbows with teabags, this was fun AND messy! Our 2-3 year olds have absolutely loved exploring the colour orange. They played with water, paint and sponges, and then had lentil play searching for the hidden letters and getting SUPER messy with some orange jelly, HOW FUN! The children were also able to take a trip out of the nursery to explore the sunny town of Irthlingborough this month. The swings and the tunnel were a particular favourite at the park, and the fresh sunny air put a smile on everyone’s faces.
Who doesn’t love the smell of marshmallows? Our pre-School children were introduced to the yummiest smelling and softest feeling Marshmallow dough, but sadly we couldn’t eat it! This activity encouraged lots of descriptive words as they explored using all of their senses. We also introduced the big, wide world map to our pre-schoolers, and encouraged them to the place the animals on the map relevant to where they thought they belonged, “the zoo” was a frequent answer! Yum, yum, yum – later in the month we also got to cook PIZZAS! The children made fresh dough, cut up their chosen toppings to place on top and then took them home to cook, this sure was a special treat, and this we could eat!
